Who we are

We Work in Space is a job board for non-technical roles in the space industry, operated from the Netherlands. References to “we”, “us” or “our” in this policy refer to We Work in Space.

This privacy policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Dutch implementation thereof (UAVG).

What data we collect and why

Newsletter subscriptions

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and, optionally, your preferred job categories. We use this information solely to send you job alerts and updates relevant to your interests. The legal basis for this processing is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. This involves collecting data such as pages visited, time spent on the site, approximate location (country/region level), device type, and referral source. This data is pseudonymised and aggregated — we cannot identify individual visitors. The legal basis for this processing is your consent, which we ask for via our cookie notice when you first visit the site.

Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC and may be transferred to servers outside the European Economic Area. Google participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Job application clicks

When you click “Apply” on a job listing, we may log that a click occurred (without storing personal data) to help us understand which roles attract interest. We do not track you beyond our website.

Information you do not provide us

We do not collect CVs, application letters, or any other recruitment data. Applying for a job takes you directly to the employer's own website or application system. We have no involvement in that process and are not responsible for how employers handle your data.

Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the website to function. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to help us understand website usage. These are only placed with your consent.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time through your browser settings or by using the Google Analytics opt-out tool linked above.

How long we keep your data

Newsletter subscriber data is kept for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your email address is removed from our mailing list within 30 days.

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings (26 months by default).

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate data corrected
  • Have your data deleted (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)
  • Lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens)

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via our LinkedIn page. We will respond within 30 days.
