Can you describe your role within your organization?
I am a Manager for International Government Sales, specializing in the development of Lower Earth Orbit (LEO) projects.
In my role, I oversee and coordinate sales initiatives aimed at international government clients, ensuring they are aligned with our strategic goals for advancing Lower Earth Orbit technologies and applications. This involves identifying potential markets, negotiating contracts, and managing relationships with governmental agencies worldwide. My responsibilities also include collaborating with technical teams to tailor our offerings to meet specific governmental needs and regulatory requirements, as well as staying informed about industry trends and geopolitical factors that could impact our sales strategies. Through these efforts, I contribute to the growth and success of our Lower Earth Orbit ventures, driving innovation and expanding our global presence in this rapidly evolving sector.
How did you end up in space with your study/work background?
I graduated with a degree in accounting, specializing in the oil and gas industry. When COVID-19 struck, the energy sector was severely impacted, leading to significant shifts in demand and widespread layoffs. Unfortunately, I was among those laid off. However, this challenging period opened up new opportunities for me to explore other industries, ultimately leading me to the aerospace sector.
This transition allowed me to leverage my financial expertise in a new and exciting field. In aerospace, I have been able to apply my skills to support the financial operations of governments involved in cutting-edge technologies and innovations. My experience in the volatile oil and gas market has given me a unique perspective on managing financial risks and navigating industry fluctuations, which has been invaluable in my role as a Manager for International Government Sales. This journey has not only broadened my professional horizons but also enabled me to contribute to the advancement of aerospace initiatives.
How does your specific non-tech discipline or expertise add value to your organization?
A deal typically follows a life path: sales, integration/execution, and financial reporting. My career journey has followed this path, but in reverse order. I began in accounting, where I gained a solid understanding of the financial aspects of deals and the underlying business trends. From there, I transitioned to the role of Program Manager for Human Space Flight missions for international governments. In this role, I acquired hands-on experience in integrating and executing every aspect required to send an astronaut to the International Space Station. I collaborated with engineers, human and science research teams, flight operators, astronauts, and the flight readiness team.
Now, I serve as a Manager for International Government Sales. The knowledge and experience I gained from my previous roles have provided me with a strong foundation to drive innovation and expand our global presence in this rapidly evolving sector through sales.
