What advice would you give non-tech space enthusiasts?

At Marmoris, we are trying to support life below water from space! the way we do that is to use data obtained by satellites to observe, detect, and manage coastal habitats. The information you can retrieve from satellite-based earth observation helps us understand how complex environmental systems work and how can we take action to protect and restore fragile ecosystems such as the coral reefs.

How does your specific non-tech discipline or expertise add value to your organization?

Although I have a technical/engineering background, I do not consider myself an engineer or a spacetech professional anymore. My career path has taken shape in a direction that I no longer engage with coding and development (pitty...). What I do is find application domains where space tech can have added value in solving societal problems. I talk to various stakeholders, write proposals, make connections, manage teams, and advocate for the uptake of earth observation science in projects and organizations.

What advice would you give fellow non-tech space enthusiasts if they want to pursue a job in space?

Our new motto is "Space is not rocket science!". With space becoming more mainstream, we have an increased need for people who can help in developing and expanding markets and contribute to the new space economy. We need space enthusiasts for business development, marketing, design, stakeholder engagement, publications, and much more. Just find a cause that you care about and see where it intersects with space tech. Surely there will be a place for you in that intersection!
